Membership @ HopewellChurch membership is a wonderful privilege and an important part of the Christian life. We'd love for you to join us and become part of the body of Christ.
To that end, we hope that the following information will help introduce you to membership at Hopewell. If you still have questions, or want to pursue membership, we invite you to contact us and discuss it more. |
Who can be a member? |
Anyone who makes a credible Christian profession of faith, along with their children, are welcome to become members of Hopewell church and come under the tender care of the church’s leadership.
One need not believe every tenet of our church’s doctrine in order to be a member. All that is required is that one have a basic understanding of the gospel and demonstrate an earnest commitment to follow Christ. |
Membership, Profession of faith, & Communion |
Those who make a personal and public profession of faith are welcome to share in all the benefits of the church, most especially the Lord’s Supper.
Those who have not yet publicly acknowledged their need for the Savior will be considered non-communing members. Though they may not participate in the Communion Supper, they will have the right to enjoy all the privileges God affords them as covenant children, including the nurture of the gospel, the care and interest of the leadership, and the manifold blessings of church fellowship. Is your child ready to formally profess his/her faith and begin partaking of the Lord's Supper? Are they ready to be baptized? Please let us know. We'd love for them to enjoy this means of growth in the gospel. |
Membership VowsAre you interested in pursuing membership at Hopewell?
Do you still have questions? |
After sitting down with an elder of the church, those who apply for membership will be required to profess their faith publicly. This they will do by affirming the following vows:
Do you humbly acknowledge yourself to be a sinner in the sight of God, justly deserving His displeasure and without hope save in His sovereign mercy? Do you believe in the Lord Jesus Christ as the Son of God and Savior of sinners, and do you receive and rest upon Him alone for your salvation as He is offered to you in the Gospel? Do you now resolve and promise, in humble reliance upon the grace of the Holy Spirit, to live as a follower of Christ with all repentance for sin and earnest desire to abide by His commandments? Do you promise to support the church in its worship and work to the best of your ability? Do you submit yourselves to the government and discipline of the church and promise to study its purity and peace? |
